Cellular Hydration

Internal Beauty Tip

Cellular Hydration - One of the best ways to lower inflammation is to properly hydrate our cells. The hydrogen found inside of our cells deactivates harmful substances like toxins and free radicals and helps our cells eliminate them from our bodies.  One study found that people who drank hydrogen-rich water saw a 39% increase in their antioxidant ability. It also helps our mitochondria and ATP production, which equals more energy. Our skin is our largest organ which means what we consume and how we take care of ourselves on the inside, will show up externally.

How do we increase cellular hydration?

Electrolytes + Fiber —

Sodium, Chloride, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium.

Some of my favourites include LMNT electrolytes, Himalayan pink salt on everything, coconut water, magnesium/epsom salt baths, sparkling mineral water, mineral rich herbal infusions (we love nettle), bone broth, water rich fruits and veggies for fibre + hydration.

Nettle Infusion Recipe

1/3 cup dried Nettle leaves

1 L boiling water

Place the dried Nettles in a glass mason jar and cover with boiling water.

Steep for a minimum of 6 hours or overnight. It will turn a deep dark green colour like the second picture.

Strain and keep in the fridge for up to a week.

I usually drink one cup a day but listen to your body :)

Benefits of Nettles: high in iron and vitamin C (which helps absorption of iron) allergies, great for hair, adrenals and nervous system, high in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. I like making infusions over taking herbal supplements because the vitamins, minerals and bio-flavonoids (antioxidants) are in their most bioavailable forms meaning they are more easily absorbed by our bodies
